Thailand-based Unithai Shipyard and Engineering is about to put into operation a new floating dock for large vessels which was christened on May 9.
With a length of 984 feet, a width of 170 feet and a lifting capacity of 48,000 tons, the facility is said to be the largest floating dock in Thailand.
“This new floating dock will increase Unithai Shipyard’s capacity and capabilities to accommodate Aframax and Post-Panamax vessels of up to 170,000 dwt in dry dock for repairs and maintenance,” Teerapon Udomkanjananan, Unithai Shipyard Managing Director, said.
“Together with the existing 50,000-dwt-capacity floating dock, Unithai Shipyard is able to undertake the entire range of ship repair services, up to more than 200,000 dwt,” Udomkanjananan added.
Founded in 1976, Unithai Group focuses on shipping, logistics, shipyard and offshore engineering operations.
