EVERGREEN ADOPTS BNTC AS ITS NEW HOME (08 Apr, 2016)

Taiwan’s shipping company Evergreen Line has chosen South Korea’s Busan New Container Terminal (BNTC) as its new home at Busan’s port.

As part of the company’s two 5,600 TEU vessel deployment on the BEX2 service, the boxship Ever Utile made its first call at the terminal on April 5.

Evergreen’s BEX2 service joins the existing PHEX Ocean 3 Alliance service with CMA CGM, COSCOCS and UASC connecting Asia to Rijeka, Koper, Venice, Trieste, Malta and Jeddah ports by calling Shanghai, Ningbo, Busan, Chiwan, Tanjung Pelepas and Port Kelang.

BNCT completed expansion in 2015 adding 700,000 TEU capacity and a 16,000 TEU empty storage area for a new total handling capacity of 2.5 million TEU with further expansion possible up to 3.5 million TEU.

BNCT said that it is the only terminal able to construct additional capacity in the new port until 2020.
