BANGLADESH SPLASHES ITS LARGEST VESSEL BUILT TO DATE ( 23 Mar 2017)

Bangladeshi shipbuilding company Western Marine Shipyard launched the first of ten 8,000 dwt mini bulk carriers, JSW Pratapgad, in Chittagong on March 29, 2017.

 

With a length of 122 meters, the bulker is the largest vessel built so far in Bangladesh, marking a milestone in the country’s emerging shipbuilding industry.

Western Marine Shipyard informed that the ship will be in deployed in the route of Indian Sea and it is being manufactured in compliance with Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).

In 2015, the shipbuilder entered an agreement with India’s JSW Jaigarh Port Limited, under which a total of ten mini bulk carriers will be built at the yard.
